Endometrial Ablation


 

This procedure is used to permanently destroy a thin layer of the lining of the uterus. The purpose, is to treat a dysfunctional or abnormal bleeding. Endometrial Ablation may be an alternative to hysterectomy.

This procedure should not be done if the patient plans to become pregnant, since pregnancy is unlikely, and risk of miscarriage and other problems exist.

After uterine ablation, birth control should be practiced until menopause.
